Cinque Terre can be very hot. Today we walked along & over the ocean mountains from Monterosso to Vernazza it was a pretty
physical walk with the temperature around 34 degrees, but incredible views & scenery & worth every bit of sweat we lost.
We are now sitting back on the mountain top with another jug of the local Italian wine on the veradah in the shade, with
the afternoon sea breeze making us cool & comfortable (these guys have a great lifestyle). Its after 8 pm & it will still
be a while before sunset. The wine jug is empty I'm feeling a little pissed, but Yvonne says we can order another jug.
This is really good wine & that comes from me, a non wine drinker so I will sign off for now as any further comments will
probably turn to rambling crap.
Oh yeah, today I swam in the crystal clear water of the Med & it felt great in this heat.
Next day... Yes we did finish that second jug of wine & slept extremely well.
Today we set off for Switzerland, by first driving up the coastal mountains of Italy
(on the tollway again, boring straight through the mountains & over ravines. No hairpin bends & slow progress today.)
In USA they just call these things roads & you do not need to pay 30 Euros a day to use them.
In Australia we just dream about them, while the politicians promise them.
& then across the cenral plain, to 'Lago Di Garda'on the Northeastern side of the plains. At the foothills of the Italian &
Swiss Alps. This is a virtual freshwater ocean.
It is very clear & you can see many metres to the bottom. For a change we have a magnificent room & intend to stay here for a
couple of days as there is much to see.
I will mention the central plains only briefly..... Flat, boring & crappy. A good place to pass through quickly.

No cuttings, just tunnels.
The beach at Veranzza where Gunther went swimming.
Some beach at Monterosso.
Yvonne on the walk from Monterosso to Veranzza.
Grapevines on the hillside on the walk.
Part of the 4 lane tollway, way overhead.
Nearing Veranzza. You can just see it in the valley.
A couple of yellow canoes (parked on the Rocks) & people snokelling, from the cliff walk.
A long way down
Decending into Veranzza.
Entering the, now familiar narrow streets.
Went home by boat. Approaching Moterosso.
